Concept

My work is based on the theme of reconstruction.
In this day and age of mass saturation in Japan, I feel that it is more important to use and utilize existing things to create new value than to create new things.

In explaining the purpose of my creation, I would like to talk about myself.
My grandmother uses empty candy bags as containers for vegetables and other small items, unused power cables as cordage, and even as tools for working in the fields.
In Shiga Prefecture, where I was born and raised, and in neighboring Kyoto Prefecture, there are many old traditional houses, and I have spent a lot of time in the area, feeling the culture of trying to utilize existing things as much as possible through renovation and restoration of old houses.
Influenced by my grandmother's attitude and the character of the area where I grew up, I studied art, and one answer I came across was collage art.

The materials I use for my artwork are all things that I naturally collect in my daily life.
(receipts, flyers, books I have finished reading, magazines and newspapers I no longer need that my friends give me, etc.)
All of these are fine art materials in the collage technique, and all of them can be considered as paints with different colors.
And because of the nature of collage made with paper, it is possible to naturally incorporate textual information into the picture.
Therefore, the pictures themselves are not only represented on paper to provide visual entertainment, but each work itself functions as a reading material, offering room for a variety of interpretations.

Through the production of works centered on this kind of reconstruction, I continue to appeal to the possibilities of paper and, ultimately, to the viewpoint that all existing things are precious.
Currently, I mainly work with paper, but I believe that all old materials have potential.
