Description

Initially spawned out of an obsession with bubbles and the multitude of things they can represent, this painting evolved into an idea based around theories of cell division and atomic attraction. I contemplated on the premise that as atoms attract and bond they spark the creation of new matter. I considered how this parallels human creation; we exist independently, attract each other and then combine to create new life.
Like atoms floating in space each of us drifts through life passing countless others on our way, sometimes we are drawn towards particular others as if magnetized by unseen forces. We develop bonds of love and friendship, we create family units or cluster together because of shared common values and so by uniting forces with others life evolves into a more complex structure.

Concept

My paintings are a merge of philosophy and fantasy, they are journeys towards reconnecting the human spirit with its origins within both physical and spiritual dimensions. I take inspiration from the natural sciences as well as from mythical nature spirits and deities thus treating themes of ecology and the environment from a more metaphysical perspective. It is my aim to incite a greater appreciation of the systems, rhythms and patterns of our beautiful existence.

If you are concerned about repayment costs, such as when renting a house, wall pins and hooks that do not leave noticeable hole marks are available at major DIY Store and art supply stores.

If you want to hang a canvas with a hook, a hook type with a long hooking surface, such as a V-shaped type is recommended.

If there is a string on the back of the canvas or the back of the frame, you can hang it with a pin type that has a short hooking surface.
