I paint the shapes on the canvas as they come to my mind. I paint over and over again, for days on end. I paint until my mind finds something. The shape becomes the shape of my heart, and the ground becomes the world that surrounds it. This is where the exchange between the form of my heart and its world begins. The world is sometimes kind and sometimes harsh, but so is the form of my heart, and the exchange continues with far more emotion than when it was just figure and ground. Until it becomes my own place.
I also wrote this piece with only those many emotions. Strong and hard feelings and fragile hearts, continuity and change, security and insecurity, front and back, isolation and collection... Everyone has feelings for both.
