Karina Jancewicz is a contemporary portrait artist based in Tokyo.
Her recent projects focus on the LGBT community and, through portraits, expresses her fascination with humans’ romantic desire and raises social awareness about gender or sexual identity and the importance of the human’s dialogue.

In consequence, Karina challenges exploring the person’s identity through contemporary art and actively taking advantage of her creations to open people’s hearts and promote cultural change in accepting the LGBT community.

Karina states that her portraits are more than just a record of a person’s appearance. She believes that her portraits are people and take all effort to reflect their endurance and ephemerality. Portraits of Karina are famous for their delicacy and intimacy that encapsulate and give us an experience of the actual persons and their ubiquitous relationships.
She also paints landscapes and creating paperart such as japanese Chigiri-e.
