    Concept

    Makoto Iijima (1977 - ) is a Japanese Western-style painter.
    Born in Saitama, Japan, he graduated from Southern Oregon University in 2001 with a BFA in painting. After graduation, he exhibited his works in solo shows and exhibitions mainly in Kyobashi, Tokyo.
    His works often depict pale light and shadows in delicate colors reminiscent of the Impressionists, using Japanese rural landscapes and huts as motifs. In the article about her solo exhibition in "Bijutsu no mado" (Art Window), he was described as "painting with deep poetic sentiment and light colors in a calm color palette of universal and sympathetic landscapes that can be found in everyone's heart.
