The Overlap series, which uses shaped canvas, is not only about overlapping layers, but also about the overlapping of my own life, from the excitement of wobbly lines drawn with paint tools and a mouse in an elementary school computer room nearly 30 years ago, to my college days when I painted only abstracts in oil, to my mural painting days when I painted motifs that looked like cute characters, to my days working for a design company where I could never create my own work. The works in this series are the result of the overlap of my own life, culture, style, and environment.
