"The Eggs Are Bleeding" is a scatterbrained, fun, expressive mixed media piece about eggs. This work continues the sequel of previous egg paintings made in the past. These works focus on sarcastic and witty half-serious themes. There includes an egg-free Christmas recipe that goes around the perimeter of the canvas and finishes its way on the back. The ingredients for this recipe are alongside the right middle of the piece. After getting stitches in the kitchen back in December 2022, I wanted to bring that up and laugh at it. All throughout the canvas is litters of Polaroid film waste, cut-up styrofoam egg cartons, nutrition facts, actual Polaroid photos of eggs we threw on the floor of the kitchen, a working barcode, and three different kinds of paint.
