Description

This is her ninth piece of work in pop art series of "In the Garden" this year.

The artist majored in horticulture in college, and loves to grow flowers and plants. Her hobby is gardening.

Iris is her favorite flowers, and she tried to express colorful flowers in pop art work with black thick outlines.

Iris is a flower that comes out around 6~7month of year in Korea, and yellow flowers and purple flowers bloom.

She wants everyone to know and love the beauty and unique shapes and colors of Iris.

And, when she went to the professor's house last spring to make pottery, she can't forget the purple iris that bloomed in the back garden.

At an exhibition hosted by the E-Land Cultural Foundation, the artist will display ceramics and pop art works with irises.

She expects many people to see and be interested in the two works painted on different media in this exhibition.

Mia Kim is an award-winning South Korean painter whose art has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally, as well as in Japan and the United States. Her works express the daily life of contemporary man, constantly busy in a rapidly changing city. Kim’s narratives are conveyed through simple shapes, vibrant colors and bold lines. She uses both acrylic and oil painting on canvas.

My work aims an artist's own story which is quite personal and descriptive. Small but touching experience felt in everyday life through 「The work looking into myself」. Childhood memories and inner story. This is not just an artist's own story but a self-portrait of everyone living today which is rapidly changing.

Recently through ‘Urban Landscape Project’, I am not just representing loneliness and mind of people today by a foliage plant’s indoor purification and primarily function to watch leaves in indoor space of the dreary city, but working data-on focusing data-on how the space changes when the plants are laid in indoor and outer space.

If there is a string on the back of the canvas or the back of the frame, you can hang it with a pin type that has a short hooking surface.
