Description

The exile in modern society is the man who sees and understands and yet cannot belong. This painting explores the deep emptiness that the loss of culture and heritage brings, the purgatory-like backdrop accompanied by somber hues of red and pink amid recollections of the past culminating in the form of ghosts that haunt and plague the ambiguous, corporeal figure. In this crimson chaos, the figure yearns to conquer that which he has lost and wishes to reclaim for himself in the present, these spectres gradually floating away from him into oblivion—finally, the question remains: what are we if not our memories?

Concept

The nature of my work varies from time to time, from 3D installations to artwork
involving paper and fabric(batik) inspired from my Javanese and Indian heritage.
But mostly I paint on canvas.

My artworks vary from depictions of ordinary subjects to consisting of abstract figures,
often poetic and gracefully formed and at times boldly colored and rough strokes.

In many cases, art works with a canvas stretched over a wooden frame can be displayed as is. Thin art works other than canvases are easier to frame. For any questions or concerns please chat us.

What kind of hardware should I use for hanging the artwork?

If you are concerned about repayment costs, such as when renting a house, wall pins and hooks that do not leave noticeable hole marks are available at major DIY Store and art supply stores.

If you want to hang a canvas with a hook, a hook type with a long hooking surface, such as a V-shaped type is recommended.

If there is a string on the back of the canvas or the back of the frame, you can hang it with a pin type that has a short hooking surface.
