Concept

Art is for me the tool to know and explore my inner world and then communicate it and share it with others. The recurring theme in my works is the portrait and the female body through which I can tell then free parts of me wounded and / or denied. As a teenager I suffered from a serious eating disorder that I overcame by leveraging my personal resources as in my family psychological support was something totally unhealted.
My mental disorder was then treated as a physical illness. I still remember the dramatically obsessive relationship I had with food and the distorted image I had of my body. Today being able to represent it with other faces and deform to my liking is a revolutionary and liberating act for me in which I try to break with the image of the "ideal woman" longed for and proposed by society through magazines, social media, TV.
Thanks to the design I accept and support the idea that feminine beauty does not necessarily have to be harmony of lines and proportions. Beauty is something much deeper, intimate, unique and therefore disconnected from the system. Beauty for me corresponds to authenticity and acceptance of oneself, to freedom and therefore free expression of what one is and not of what others would like from us. Social beliefs often cage, art serves to get rid of them.
