A modern representation of the goddess Konohananosakuyahime, who stands alone and watches over Mt.
Konohananosakuyahime-no-mikoto is a goddess recorded in the Kojiki and Nihonshoki.
She is enshrined at the Mt.

Fuji erupted between 19-21 Enryaku and 800-802 AD.
Fuji caused damage from volcanic ash and lava.
Fuji originally had a male deity named Fuchino wolf.
To appease his anger, the Sengen-taisha shrine was built under the direction of Tamuramaro Sakagami, a famous figure in ancient history.
The goddess Konohananosakuyahime was enshrined as the deity.
