Born in England to a Palestinian father and an English mother, I spent my childhood in different countries in the Middle East and Europe. This gave me a deep appreciation and understanding of different people and cultures in our diverse world.

Earlier in life, I was drawn to music as an outlet for creative expression. Eventually I moved to picture-making and chose a career as a photographer and printmaker.
I learned my craft working both as an artist on personal projects, and as a commercial photographer for advertising and design in London, Stockholm and Dubai. Gradually I found a style that I felt comfortable with, and which I felt spoke with the truth and emotion that I was seeking.

As a photographer, I use digital capture, from high-end DSLR cameras to an iPhone. Digital files are always processed using the usual digital applications. For printing my artworks I have two main approaches: fine art Giclée digital printing on archival matte paper, or hand-crafted photogravure (photo-etching) prints.

The photogravure process originated in the late 1800s and is widely regarded as the most challenging, labour-intensive and beautiful of the photographic printing processes. A photogravure, or photo-etching, print is produced by mechanically pressing a sheet of paper onto an etched, inked metal plate. The result is a unique, hand-crafted object, with beautiful depth and textural feel.

I now live on a rural, organic farm in Galicia, north-western Spain, with my wife, and family of horses, dogs, cats and hens. I continue to pursue new art projects and to exhibit regularly. I also teach photography and photogravure printmaking (photo-etching) courses in my 100-year old farmhouse studio.
