Concept

Valerie approaches her paintings in a stylized manner heavily influenced by Pop Art and Expressionism She uses vivid colors mixed with multiple images that is constant in her work; the birds, the women, flowers, patterns, and more. Some of her works are reminiscent of Asian cultures due to her heritage, and there is always a sense of curiosity in her paintings. Either the audience is seeing an intimate moment, or her subject peeking into the audience. It's the childlike curiosity of wanting to learn more and see more.

Biography

Born and raised in the Philippines and of Filipino and Japanese descent, Valerie is a multi-talented painter. As a teenager, she painted for UNESCO Philippines, and she has exhibited in numerous countries.

Aside from her art, Valerie is most known in the US as a stand-up comedian. She has also worked for film, TV, theater, and more.

Also a screenwriter, she’s currently making films that center around fine arts and classical music, two subjects that she’s trained in. She studied art in Texas, and she's a classically trained pianist and singer.
