We, humans, have been given a level of intelligence and awareness; unlike grasshoppers and earthworms, we must look deeper in our life because we are not bound to move between the two lines as nature has drawn for every other being.
I am of the opinion that art should be an instrument of social change. With art, we can change our mindsets to mend the very fabric of society.

Abstract expressionism has the aptness to capture your attention and the humility to take your own comprehension. It’s a representation of one’s emotional state. Nurturing this experience is the responsibility I feel as a creative because without an artistic intention a piece of art lacks a purpose for its intended audience.

I am an Auckland based artist and my most recognisable work in abstract expressionism is characterized by strong geometrical composition, balanced colour field and a strong narrative comprised of textual notes. Born in Pakistan in the late ’70s, migrated to India at the age of 16 and then moved to Auckland, a few years ago – my experience in the Indian fashion industry and business management degree afterwards, guides me to endeavour my art. My work explores the relationship between historical multiculturalism and emotional memories which reaches out to the viewer with an invitation to engage and respond.
I am inspired by SH Raza and Mark Rothko and like to mix eastern values with western modernism to make my personal melangē of it.

Glass has always been my favourite canvas which represents the exquisiteness of the human brain whereas the geometric mode of abstraction in a layer over layer of vibrant colours reflects several expressions. I paint intuitively in layers until a balanced equilibrium is achieved.
