Eric Borel is a prolific Executive Chef, Figure Artist, Oil Painter, and the Founding Owner of Fonteclose Art. Throughout his lifetime, he has been meticulously honing his artistic craft. To date, his innumerable achievements and contributions in the arts arena have earned him the reputation as a pacesetter. In addition to his accolades, his unwavering passion is evident and so is his masterful prowess refined under the tutelage of an internationally renowned artist with a Diploma of Excellence. Ultimately, this acquired expertise has enabled him to establish a lucrative brand and successful career.
Eric embarked upon his creative journey as a young boy with an affinity for drawing. Growing up in an active intellectual and artistic environment, he had the opportunity to travel extensively, finding excitement in multiculturalism. Building upon his desire to create and stand out, he was continually fueled by his ambition to become a globally acclaimed expert in his field. Wasting no time, he developed his skills until his twenties and embraced canvas painting. He hasn’t looked back ever since!
When Eric starts painting on a canvas, he does not have a precise vision of the end result and instead, allows his creativity to naturally flow. Time and time again, this is an attribute that has set him apart from others artists. Furthermore, his vast background in classic professional cuisine allows him to tactfully integrate his amalgamation of chef and artist perspectives into his artwork to create awe-inspiring masterpieces. To him, painting is a fusion between spices and pigments. Sometimes, Eric paints on the motif. Other times, he utilizes photos, even if the result is far from the original model. All in all, this is Eric Borel’s methodology.
A game-changer in his field, Eric’s distinct style manifests through his striking drawings and vivid pigments. Enriching himself through contact with associations, visual arts, and contemporary poetry, this tenacious creative mind uses art as the engine that runs his actions. With in-depth industry knowledge and an analytical approach, he is equipped to understand the needs of the most discerning audiences, delivering an experience rooted in craftsmanship, authenticity, and finesse.
A self-taught professional, Eric’s aptitude has shaped him into an ideal advocate for the industry. As such, he is proactively seeking out innovative ways to enhance his skill set and attain excellence, with client satisfaction as his primary objective. His immense devotion to the techniques of “Ancienne” (the masters of painting) inspires his commitment to painting several hours a day. Drawing inspiration from prominent names in painting, he also believes that it is the work of lesser-known painters that triggers his candid self-expression. When it comes to his creative process, he first makes a background corresponding to the dominant color desired and lightly draws the outline of the painting with a very fine brush. The final step involves applying the hues and experimenting with various harmonies.
This multidisciplinary artist was born in 1964 in Cameroon and has lived in numerous countries throughout Africa, the United States, and other areas before returning to France and making it his home two decades ago. Leveraging the wisdom of his cultural exposure, he has garnered a sophisticated and nuanced perspective that elevates his work, enabling him to match his craft with the outcome he requires. As if that is not enough tenacity for one individual, he ventures out to various locales to this day. Presently, he is in Kazakhstan, where he is completing his portraits of Central Asia. It is undoubtedly that cosmopolitan air that has imparted him with the observer taste, ensuring he never loses sight of the diversity that this beautiful world has to offer.
Painting aside, Eric loves spending quality time with his loved ones. Self-development is also at the forefront of his mind, from learning French, to cooking Asian cuisine (among other recipes throughout the world).
Eric Borel is of the belief that self-expression is the hallmark of an artist, and in order to develop it, one must express their own unique personality with vulnerability. This is his ultimate motivation towards painting and transmitting the love of materials, pigments, and shapes to others.
