He uses bright red ink for most of his paintings to express a life that flows like blood. He uses special painting techniques to present abstract and dynamic stories. His works are also a combination of 2D and 3D concepts. Lee worked with schools to develop AR and VR games so people can better understand his world of abstract art and see how it is presented in 3D.

Unframed art: A genre of art that cannot be easily defined “Defining my works based on existing schools of painting is like putting a circle in a square because I cannot fully describe them this way.”

The light of the universe, the hydrating water of life; light and water are both winding yet straight, much like our lives.

Lee’s works only show the starting point and not the end, signifying blessings are forever preserved within the stroke of totem, much like love that is endless.

“I tell the story of life with one stroke, passing on love just like a mother does through her umbilical cord.”

Teng-Yuan Lee was born in 1957 in Yunlin, Taiwan and worked in business in his youth.

After reflecting on the first half of his life, he made promoting culture and art his mission. Lee had the opportunity to embark on a journey of art.

He created a one-of-a-kind totem art and was invited to exhibit his works at the Carrousel du Louvre in France in 2014, where he took everybody’s breath away. Lee did not start to walk until the age of five. During this perplexing yet pivotal period of childhood, he could only sit under the big trees in the countryside, gaze at the sky, and trace the lines of the natural light with his hands, which gave him a special visual ability.

He can see the delicate, silky spots of natural light and illustrate the twists and turns of the light, thus creating a series of organic totem images. Because of this unique childhood experience, following the different chapters in life, Lee returned to the path of art as if it was predestined, coming full circle.
