Meghadūta (The Cloud Messenger) is inspired from its namesake, the famous epic poem by the great Sanskrit poet Kalidasa, which narrates the tale of two lovers separated between heaven and earth with only the clouds to convey their love messages to one another. This painting aims to interpret this poesy as the timeless love between the two greatest lovers of all- Earth and Sky. The enormous passions of this unrequited love, never meeting except at the illusion of the horizon, swell on an overcast day. It is as if the Sky would shed tears of mad rebellion to meet the greens below. The fresh soil awakens and beckons, imploring for the end of tortuous separation.
This painting is in oil on canvas, of size 24in.x30in., and painted in the impressionistic style.
