My work centres around the impact human activity has upon rural environments and its associated topographies. I am particularly drawn to the idea of layered histories (extending back to the Neolithic with its associated structures still visible in the landscape) within scenes that capture my interest while walking in Scotland. Although I do not depict them directly, traces of past cultures and the mark(s) they have left help spark imaginative and interpretive thought processes that I can use as the basis of image making.
