As a full-time working mother and wife with anxiety, meeting the demands and responsibilities of daily life can prove to be challenging and, at times, overwhelming. There’s a constant pull between control and chaos. Upholding the grand illusion of control can provide temporary comfort, but if the illusion breaks down — and it will — it leaves room for nothing other than disappointment and a sense of failure.

What happens if you intentionally welcome all of life’s chaos rather that striving so hard to avoid it? What could be learned from such a drastic change in perspective? My recent work reflects my personal challenge to explore chaos and all it has to offer. By blending calculated elements with those of chance, I’m able to uncover unexpected creative reactions.
