Concept

" Focusing on the work of the imperfect or immature toward perfection, either artificially or of its own volition, I try to portray the ruptures, imperfections, and dangers that this creates. Disguises to protect oneself from enemies, masks that mimic the ideal. Things that we cannot live without, or we believe we cannot live without. These are silly and loving. I think the consciousness of trying to become something perfect is similar to the consciousness of trying to become something else, something other than oneself. The reason why he is concerned with the indirect techniques of print and copperplate printing instead of tableau is that he wants to change his own traces into something else. Even if every inch of the picture is covered with his lines, the sense of expression is exactly the same as if it were someone else's. This is a terrible relief for me. This is a terribly reassuring and comfortable thing for me. It's a work that is swirling around in the world despite the danger of being invaded by itself, I think. "

Biography

Born in Hokkaido, Japan. Studied oil painting and pen-and-ink painting in the art course at Hokkaido University of Education, Iwamizawa. Began copperplate printmaking at the Tsukuba University Graduate School of Art and Design. Associate member of the Japan Print Association. Recipient of the 27th scholarship from the Sato International Cultural Scholarship Foundation.
Solo exhibition "core" at Bunbodo Gallery Cafe (2017). Solo exhibition "circulation" at Gallery Art Morimoto (2019). Selected for the 9th Vancouver International Mini-Print Biennial (2016). Mitsubishi Corporation Art Gate Program 32nd, 33rd, 34th, 38th Charity Auctions (2016-2018). Nominated for the 85th Print Exhibition of the Japan Print Association as a prize candidate/associate member (2017). The 16th Minamishimabara City Seminary Contemporary Print Exhibition Shimabara Newspaper Prize (2017). Selected for the 10th Kochi International Print Triennial (2017). Selected for the 7th Yamamoto Ding Print Award Exhibition (2018). Selected for the 6th Tokyo International Mini-Print Triennial (2018). Excellent Prize, 42nd National University Print Exhibition (2018).
