Ever since I was a child, I loved to indulge in fantasy. It was not until I was a little older that I realized that this was a way to escape from the difficulties of living in reality. To fantasize was to imagine the world I longed for, but to come back to myself and look at the gap between my longing and reality felt bitter and empty, as if I were learning of my own weakness. The bitterness gradually faded when I began to express the world of my longing as a painting. I feel that mixing paints is like trying to reconcile reality and longing. I do not see the oscillation and conflict between reality and longing as merely bitter, but rather as a natural and rather beautiful moment in which I wish to be myself.
