Concept

The artist creates etchings (etching and aquatint) and lithographs with wooden matrixes. Looking at Mayumi Iino's works, we see delicate beings hidden in nature and in the everyday landscape. They are the true protagonists of her works. Each of them has its own 'place to live': a tree branch in the city, a bit of greenery by the side of the road, a pile of leaves on a meadow... places that constantly exist beside our lives but most of the time go unnoticed. Patiently, the artist reconstructs small encounters with 'Them' on the printing plate, setting them in the scenarios she sees and memorises in her daily life and which are most dear to her.

Biography

Born in Miura, Kanagawa Prefecture Japan.

Graduated from the Faculty of Painting of the Tama Art University, majored in printmaking under the guidance of master Fukazawa Yukio.
Since 1995, she has regularly exhibited her works in solo and group exhibitions both in Japan and Italy. In 2004 she moved to Milan, where she continued hers artistic activity, momentarily interrupted after the birth of her first child. Since 2011 she has been experimenting with the technique of lithography on wood (plywood lithograph or woodcut lithograph).
