to be updatedMy work is driven by human experience and cultural representation. As humans we are here to fulfil a purpose of existence and while we are on that path each person has a unique experience. Culture on the other hand is a huge part of this experience because it enables us have a sense of identity and belonging. As psychilogists will imply, humans are social animals which is why community and groups are very important to us. This gives the room for people to be able to define, explore and express self through culture in their individual human experience. My work centres around this philosophy and i tap into my African roots influenced by western modernisation.

Biography

My names are Oluwatobi Fakile popularly known as TEDA -which is my artist name. I am first a human being before I am an artist. Being an artist is the one thing that makes my human experience make sense to me as I imagine and know for a fact that this is how the universe has been designed, gifting every individual with peculiar and unique attributes as the case is.

I am a self-taught artist who is based in Lagos-Nigeria and I create in Lagos. I am a graduate of Bsc Marketing. I can tell you for a fact that being an artist is god’s own gift to us, we are all creators plagued with the need to consistently push things into physical existence, and the real blessing is being able to get creation from an idea state to a point of physical manifestation. This is what I believe in strongly as an artist and this has been my driving force when approaching and creating art. I also believe that everyone is an artist but not everyone dares to be the artist they are, this, however, can go on to mean so many things across the board.
