Concept

My name is AI TERADA and I am a photographer. This photo is a work "xiaolong pi" (small basket of breasts) that I took for the collective exhibition "pi" held recently at Shibuya Art Gallery in September 2022. (Current size: 210mm x 297mm, printed on semi-glossy Pictorico paper) The theme of "pi" was "breast," so I incorporated my own image of it into this work. For me, "breast" is something fantastic and dreamy that makes you forget reality and leads you to a dream world, and it is also a sacred part that nurtures babies. It is soft to the touch and round. It is a place to return to and gently embrace. This nuance is expressed by the overall milky white skintone. The ceramic-like or science fiction-inspired smooth skin is also an obsession for this unrealistic effect, and was done by a hair and makeup artist. (Almost no photoshop processing was used.) For some time now, she has been shooting nude works depicting the affinity between women and food (especially fruits) in a project called "Mesu Exhibition," and this work is in the same vein. This work is inspired by a Mentaiko-flavored small package that I saw at a Chinese restaurant (laugh). Myself, I really like having women as my subjects. In a world that is not always beautiful, I feel as if the woman in front of me is a goddess at the moment when I output and photograph the view of the world I envision. It is a sanctuary for me. I hope that the love I feel for my work will reach the viewers as well.

Biography

A photographer who pursues the theme of "beyond love" that bears his name. Born in Fukuoka in 1990. After graduating from Seijo University, she completed the Photography and Prop Styling courses at Vantan Design Institute. She began her career as a photographer in 2017 with her solo exhibition "Mesu Exhibition," which depicted the affinity between fruits and women. Both fruits and women sprout and grow from seeds, possessing a variety of beauty and releasing suggestive fragrances. They are either "eaten," wither, or rot. The exhibition, which opened to the public with the copy "Please eat me," was instantly picked up by the media both domestically and internationally and became a hot topic. Since then, he has expanded his activities to include shooting apparel looks utilizing his style, producing music videos, and supervising the image video of a 360°VR art concept based on the same concept. In 2019, he will exhibit AR works at his second solo exhibition, "Mesu Exhibition II Season." He photographed 20 brides and grooms who were victims of the Corona disaster in 2020 completely free of charge under the title of "Love ni mami reru. In 2022, he was selected for the exhibition "100 People 10" at Roppongi Midtown, and in February 2023, he will hold an exhibition of LGBTQ and LGBTQ-oriented works in Harajuku. In February 2023, he held a solo exhibition "Harajuku KISSS! In April, she participated in the collective exhibition "EVE: The Woman Who Left Paradise" at several stores in the Yanagigase shopping arcade in Gifu Prefecture, and in May, she participated as an artist in the "Boobs Exhibition" organized by Tanakanami, which was approved as an SDG activity by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
