About 10 years ago, I published a book describing my experiences visiting the most famous shrine in Japan, Ise Jingu, and 125 related shrines. I also became interested in ancient Japanese mythology in which the deities of these shrines appear, and have now visited over 200 shrines. Through this experience, I have come to embrace the ancient Japanese concept that all things in the forest are inhabited by gods.

I also draw inspiration from the primitive shapes of Jomon pottery, the rich design of the Rimpa school, and the flat landscapes depicted in the ukiyoe prints of the Edo period.

I love fashion and want to use beautiful patterns and colors in my work. I want to fill the world with love through layers of beautiful colors and express the fact that we are not alone.

Born in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Lives and works in Tokyo.

After graduating from Hiroshima Jogakuin University Junior College, worked for an automobile manufacturer for about 10 years before moving to Tokyo at the age of 32. Entered Setsu Mode Seminar and became an illustrator in 1998. He has provided many works for major companies' advertisements, and has illustrated more than 300 book covers. He has co-authored books and essays with Mitsuyo Kakuta and Kaori Ekuni.

He has also published many works related to shrines and Kojiki, including the illustrated essay "Izumo IZUMO de Shiawase Knots" (Shogakukan) and "Kojiki Yuru Kamisama 100 Zukan" (Kodansha). Through these experiences, he empathized with the ancient Japanese concept that gods reside in fire, wind, water, earth, and all other Shinraku elements. One of his strengths is to paint such a world with colorful, flat, pop beauty using acrylic gouache.

She is currently based in Tokyo, Karuizawa, and Fukui. Her husband is journalist Toshinao Sasaki. She was in charge of art direction for the "Bhutan: Hints for Living Happily" exhibition (The Ueno Royal Museum), and has appeared on NHK's "Top Runner," "Sunday Museum," etc.
