Nechita specializes in creating abstract expressionist and minimalist sci-fi and fantasy artwork for unconventional art collectors.

Over the last decade, the majority of Nechita’s work has focused on paintings and ink drawings. Her artwork features portraits of aliens and fantasy creatures brought into existence through her signature minimalist style. Nechita’s Alienation Series arose during her postgraduate studies, from her personal struggles with anxiety and stress during that time. These alien portraits represent a sense of disassociation that is inherent in our society. This disassociation, for her personally, was something which she felt very strongly during her first masters degree. Andrea has captured this feeling through minimalist alien portraits with their closed eyes, neutral expressions, and modern abstract elements. Nechita’s art brings these senses to the surface to help open the discussion on mental health, and student mental health, through sharing her personal experiences, the lessons she’s learned, and the art that arose from it.

" I have always had very high standards for myself and my work. My expectations placed a great strain on me over the course of my university learning. Looking back now, I see that it was within this great flood of learning, and turmoil, that I truly found myself and my unique style. In my Alienation Series, I have tried to reveal a silent inner dialogue, a moment in time when we drop our masks and simply exist in a state that lies between society and the individual. A moment when one is in such a disassociated state that they cannot look outwards anymore, but instead we begin to turn to look inwards. It is this act of seeing inwards, a kind of meditative state, which helped me to push through my times of difficulty."- Andrea C. Nechita, ALIENATION

Nechita's most recent works belong to a sub collection from the Alienation Series. These mixed media paintings feature Alien Queens inspired by Medieval art and culture. Bringing together her unique contemporary minimalist style with Medieval influences, these Alien Queens have a true regal presence and a quiet sense of power through their meditative like states. Nechita continues to work on this special series and on subjects related to mental wellness.

Andrea Christina Nechita is a trained professional in her field as an artist, and has a background as a museum & archives professional. She strives to meet the highest standards in quality and care for all works, both historical and modern.

With a passion for art and history, Nechita received a Bachelor of Arts Honors in Art History from McMaster University, a Masters degree in Interdisciplinary Medieval Studies from Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, and a Masters degree in Library and Information Studies specializing in Archiving from McGill University.

During her high school years, Andrea began to experiment with painting replicas of surrealist works from artists such as Henry Fuseli, Giorgio De Chirico, Salvador Dali, and Victor Brauner. In her undergraduate years, she began using more traditional mediums such as oil painting and acrylic on canvas, and taught herself various painting techniques while studying art and art history. In her graduate years, she began exploring Medieval influences on her style and created a series inspired by medieval manuscript illuminations and Medieval art and culture. Over years of experimentation Andrea learned to use a variety of techniques to create the effects she was looking for. Her expressionist abstract mixed media paintings are often created using between 5-15 layers of paint and liquid mediums. These secret personal techniques were developed and perfected over years to create completely unique effects. The result captures a sense of chaotic orderly motion. Some of these mixed media works take her months or even years to complete.
