"Photography is what you feel, not what you see!” - Tunde Valiszka

Growing up in communist Hungary, Tunde Valiszka was a child prodigy in photography armed with a camera at the impressionable age of 4.
Her mother was an inspiration, a hobbyist photographer who spent countless hours with her young protege taking photos and developing negatives in the darkroom.

Valiszka had great ambitions and moved to London at the age of 21 where she studied Journalism and Media at Birkbeck, University of London and obtained an MSc in Marketing at the same university. In 2011, she was an intern for a culture & lifestyle magazine as a music journalist where she interviewed a myriad of bands, wrote live music reviews and photographed live gigs. It was the first time her photographs began getting published. As well, working in social media marketing for the past 10 years required her to produce digital content and utilise her creative skills.

It wasn’t until 2017 when Valiszka started working as a professional photographer when she started receiving requests for street portraits. Being a street photographer, it was a surprise to her to obtain such portrait commissions. “It was a bit like trying to make money out of painting graffiti,” says Valiszka. Soon her provocative, high contrast, moody images started going viral on the internet. “My photography style is very niche and underground, taking inspiration from post-apocalyptic cinematography such as Blade Runner, Mad Max as well as painters such as Edward Hopper.” Her dark, enigmatic work has been featured in several online publications that celebrate cinematic street photography, such as Urban Romantix, My Darling London, Visit London, and Sony Portraits to name a few. She is often mentioned with Banksy, like the Graffiti Tunnel Shot, 2019 became the most well-known photo of the 'Banksy Tunnel' in London.

Soon other professional photographers (many of who had been working in the industry for 30-40 years) wanted to learn from Valiszka and train in her unique raw, cutting edge style so she started running street photography masterclasses for Wex Photo and Video in 2018.
