Concept

As a child Oona used to draw and paint a lot, play violin and piano, but growing up she started to concentrate on figure skating on a national level. It was a way for her to express her creative side in this extremely physical but artistic sport. Later on in life during a challenging phase as an adult when Oona's husband was diagnosed with lymphoma, she found art again and started to find peace of mind via painting. Oona is exploring her talent mostly with acrylics and alcohol inks. Art and meditation are channels for her to widen awareness and find a way to express feelings within that cannot be expressed otherwise.

Biography

Oona is half Japanese half Finnish artist born and living in Finland. She has a light filled studio at home surrounded by nature and beautiful tall pine trees. There she can work and experiment with full heart creating art for everyone to enjoy it. She started painting recently in the end of 2020 and 2021 she was selected to study arts in Pekka Halonen academy which is located in a prestigious building in the neighbourhood of Jean Sibelius’ home and the home and studio of the artist Pekka Halonen. Oona has worked in the media industry since 2007 particularly among television and advertising. Most recently she has worked as a marketing and creative lead but is focusing on art studies at the moment. She has held few art exhibitions in her home town.
