Gus Arrieta is a multidisciplinary artist from Mexico City with an expressive and playful style that blends Spirituality and Magic with his passion for Folklore, Pop Culture, and Urban Art. This meeting between the old and the modern, just like not so long ago his natal country came to be, gives birth to his work. This is the reason why Mexican iconography has been almost always present in his artistic expressions.

He is specialized mostly in painting and drawing with different technics like acrylics, oils, mural painting, ink, and digital art. However, he also does tattoos, mosaic art, woodcarving, sculpture, music, and writing.

His deep interest in mythology, symbolism, and iconography of cultures and religions all over the world is incorporated in his art pieces, that is why the encounter with his work acts as a nexus between opposite poles, skipping the dialogue between artist and viewer as an intuitive experience in itself. As he states: Art for the Third Eye.

Born in Mexico City in 1994, Gus Arrieta grew up watching the amazing Anime and Western Animation of the mid-'90s, which made him fall in love with drawing and Pop Culture from an early age.

He studied Graphic Design and Illustration, a career in which he worked until he started attending mystical indigenous ceremonies all around Mexico, where he happened to have a spiritual awakening. Since then he has been dedicated to visionary art and became drawn to the study of global mythology, sacred geometry, and archetypical symbolism, all of which he incorporates into his work, making it a spiritual and profound healing experience in itself.

He has a Graphic Design degree, tattoo artist education on the best Tattoo Studios in Mexico City, knowledge and techniques learned from traditional workshops of Zapotec and Huichol artisan masters, as well as numerous courses in different art forms. Constantly learning and growing.

His most recent exhibitions were the “Diálogos” Exhibition in Sophart Gallery and the “Calaveras” Exhibition on the Munay Culture House, both in Mexico City. Gus Arrieta has also done art for magazines, the music business, and painted Murals all around Mexico.
