The seven-color luster of the shell's nacreous layer illuminates a person's hidden inner nature, and it is in the darkness and light that raden increases its luster. It is as if it symbolizes the radiance, vitality, strength, and faint hope of a human being exposed to hardship.

Soyblanc sees each pearl layer of the shell as a human life and hope, giving the symbols and motifs on the plane a relationship to life.

His perspective on the use of traditional materials within the Western canvas is influenced by his Australian Aboriginal roots and his grandmother, who was a Japanese painter.
