Kim Sswang is a marker artist from Seoul, South Korea. After studying neuroscience in America she decided to pursue her passion for drawing. Many mistake her work for watercolor but she mostly works with graphic markers to create very dense and bold colors that are quite distinguishable from watercolor work. If a viewer looks very closely, each meticulous marker stroke becomes visible. Moreover, many of her delicate work are often matched with whimsical titles that bring smiles and giggles to viewers' faces. Inspired by etching and lithography, Kim often matches her work with various size and shape of matte mounts. This wide range of mounts represents her changing perspective. The hole cut in each mount is called a window. Kim hopes that the viewers can also enjoy the beauty of each of her study subject through these windows so they too become memorable still cuts in the viewers' lives as well.
