Jenna Myllykoski is a self-taught artist from a town called Ylöjärvi in Finland. She discovered acrylic paints in the beginning of 2020 as she started to feel a strong urge for letting out all her busy thoughts. She had always exercised her creativity in one way or another, but it had never been "the right moment" to take up painting. With her day job going into remote working mode in 2020, she suddenly had more free time since she didn't have to commute to work. Painting quickly became a lifeline for her and ever since she hasn't been able to stop creating.

Jenna paints contemporary expressive abstracts mainly on stretched canvases using acrylics and mixed media. She works with acrylic paints, inks, sprays and earth pigments. Sometimes you can even see some aluminum details in her paintings. Jenna mixes her own texture pastes with materials such as sand and stones to create a variety of multi-dimensional rough and sculptural surfaces that tease you to touch them.

Myllykoski is often inspired by things like weathered concrete, paint chipping off a windowsill, moonlight on a pitch-black winter's night, rock formations in nature, asymmetry, wind blowing off autumn leaves on a clear and crispy day, ice crystals, quiet streets, foggy mornings, her favourite rock music, or the rich fragrance of late summer.
