Maru P, Cardillo is a painter, she was born in Argentina where she trained and studied. Through her art she explores the relationships with others and everything that surrounds her. Her work is purely intuitive, abstract. It thrives on nature, unconscious images, feelings and sensations. Maru materializes her perception of the world through the use of different elements, mainly: acrylic, Chinese inks, gesso, watercolors, pencils and pastels. water as an element is essential in her pieces. Water transforms, destroys, but at the same time initiates new forms in the work. She considers it crucial to create different textures in her work
The use of UV paint was born as a form of radical change in the paint itself. Something that can only be seen in a certain way but that it retains the memory of what it was.
It is very difficult for Maru to work in small sizes, she finds it incredibly restraining as she tries to express herself on to the canvas. Mariela whole painting is often accompanied by her dogs and her trusty playlist. She began working a lot on the accident, on the error that occurs naturally, and from there, when she finds something that moves her, the work begins to be more conscious, and it begins to take shape. She knows when the work is finished because she feels as there is nothing more to add to it. The action of painting is what moves her, and connects her with the world. Painting for Maru is like an emotional roller coaster, where she gets frustrated until finally reaching a point where she feels calm, satisfied and at peace. Art for Maru is a way of life, she perceives the world and her feelings through her art. She uses the language of art itself during her process. Maru listens to what the painting is telling her what it’s reflecting back to her and she works from there trying to reach an end. Using art as a way to come to a conclusion.

Maru invites you to step into her world, and observe the unique way she perceives the world around her.

Knowing that I see the world differently makes my work closely linked to emotions. I use acrylics, oils, India ink, pencil, watercolor, and paper.

During the last years I alternated my artistic activity with teaching in my workshop and personal projects such as the elaboration and commercialization of accessories with non-traditional materials and the design of children's clothing for the Nalin brand in Argentina.
My works have been acquired by private collections in Argentina, Costa Rica, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and the United States.
I currently work full time in my workshop, and reside in Costa Rica.
