Concept

I'm a intuitive abstract artist, modern artist. I like the immediacy of abstract painting . I love moving the paint on the canvas with usually a trowel or pallet knife. I love the physical nature and the spontaneity of my paintings .I leave a fairly thick impasto on the canvas to create a nice texture to my work. I feel texture makes for a more interesting looking painting. Kind of a sculptural feel to the work. I work with a multi layer style building my painting up in usually 3 stages base middle and top coat of paint. I use tape during the various stages to reveal the previous layers of paint and block out new applied layers . I usually prefer to use neon and bright colours in my paintings. I do however appreciate a dark minimal textural painting from time to time. I'm trying to push the boundaries of abstraction . I want to create unique interesting modern artworks . I m striving to learn and borrow from the past but looking forward to create my own extreme brand of abstraction . Lincoln Howard Link

I'm a intuitive abstract artist, modern artist. I like the immediacy of abstract painting . I love moving the paint on the canvas with usually a trowel or pallet knife. I love the physical nature and the spontaneity of my paintings .I leave a fairly thick impasto on the canvas to create a nice texture to my work. Hi I'm Lincoln Howard . I was born in Vancouver BC on February 23 1970. I'm a Pisces birth sign . I have no formal art training other than High school in Burnaby BC. I'm totally self taught and self directed . My art career was started by my wife. She asked me to take an acrylic painting course in 2017 . I really enjoyed it and haven't stopped painting since. I got really into studying artists on youtube and learning about them and their stories . My style is a unique blend of some of my favorite artists. Clifford Still ,Francis Bacon , Gerhard Richter ,among others . I also think a UFO encounter I had in 2013 has had something to do with my new found creativity . The UFO was very bright with vibrant blinking lights of various colours. The reason I think this was connected to my artwork is because of a dream I had in December of 2020. The dream was very short but shocking. The first image in the dream was the UFO I saw. It was incredibly detailed it was like I was there in person looking at it again . The second image in my dream was a a flash image of one of my colourful paintings . It shocked me so much i began to sit up in bed and at that same moment in my mind I heard a voice saying these two things are connected. I believe they are! I feel that UFO encounter has helped give me my new found creativity and unique art style ..
