Mark Nikitin (art name - Mark Nikki; born 1997), a young Russian artist, is interested in depicting his impressions of the nature of the Russian North and the urbanism of the North.
Having no formal art education, Mark studied European and Japanese fine arts at
the university (direction of study - cultural studies), inspired by the work of German
Expressionists, Fauvists, the work of Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin and the circle
of artists from the Les Nabis group. In graphics, Mark is interested in traditional Japanese
art of the 16th-20th centuries, and contemporary Japanese artists, as well as modern
European graphics.
Also of great importance to Mark is the nature of the North, where he lives. The life
of the northern city and the nature of the North, perhaps, is one of the main themes of his
artworks.
The main themes of creativity: the modern urban environment through the prism of subjective perception, the place of man in the urban space and society, the nature of the North, its connection with man and itself, the contrast between the accelerated urbanization of the Russian North and untouched places, the contrast between the old and the new.
The artist's works are presented in private collections in the USA, Poland, Belarus.
