Painting for me is a means to exploration, inspired by experiences in meditation and observances of nature. I see the artistic process as a spiritual experience, and through my paintings I hope to convey a sense of wonder and belonging that works as a balm to our sometimes difficult human experience.

Within this, I am primarily concerned with using abstraction to capture consciousness in its purest, most fundamental form, from which emotional and spiritual truths can be learned. While our particular human experience is unique to all of us, I believe that we are tied together in a universal consciousness that finds expression in all life and matter. And when we access this, we heal.

I am a self taught abstract painter, and began painting seriously in 2017. I am originally from the UK, and spent much of my early adult life travelling and living abroad, and it was while I was living in Vietnam that I became interested in painting.

While living in Vietnam I also became interested in Eastern philosophies and religions. I became particularly interested in meditation and transcendent states of consciousness, and this became the driving force behind my painting. I left Vietnam at the end of 2018 and in 2019 I began a Master's in Religions at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Here I studied Buddhist Meditation and the art of the Silk Road, and I wrote my master's thesis on dialogues with God in the ancient religion of Zoroastrianism.

Spiritual themes are still at the centre of my work. I now live in the rural South West of the UK, and the forms of nature, particularly clouds, water, and trees, work in conjunction with a search for transcendence to form the basis of my abstractions.

As a self-taught painter, and in each painting I learn more about form, colour, and creation, and the themes that unite us. Thank you for joining me on this journey, I'm honoured to be able to share it with you.
