Charles Escuerzo was born in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, where he learned early on to live with colors, shapes, ways of life and everything that the contact with nature between the sea and the mountains can offer. The presence of pop culture always latent in his stroke influenced his career choices, showing in his art anthropomorphic animals and fantastic creatures forming a veritable conglomeration of references for urban art and the contemporary scene. Escuerzo has also collaborated with the internet content creation scene as an early adopter on several fronts in podcasts; in addition to actively contributing to several blogs, and also in audiovisual projects such as the vlog Corneteiros. Escuerzo thus shows his multimedia verve with a lot of charisma to work on several platforms, accumulating a background to write and draw the Dr. Nito Rinco Comic Stripe (“The Platypus Lawyer”), and publishing the novel A Balada de Maristela Sacramento. “In 2017 I rediscovered myself in colors through an internal process and started painting using oil pastels and watercolors, then using other mixed techniques to take advantage of the evolution of this process. I have lived in the city of São Paulo since 2018, where the brutality of the urban jungle now inspires the delirium of my references to the anguish of a suffering people who long to live. I try to take advantage of the online engagement of my followers to disseminate my art to those looking to dream of a better world.”
