Concept

This piece represents an oriental background, it is a horse that can tell the history of North Africa and Spain. I visited the south of Spain and went to the Lahabmbra, an amazing Castel which tells a story that connects North Africa and Europe. This painting is in oil on canvas where after painting I start to destroy some parts of the horse and I kept constructing and destroying until I come up with inner satisfaction. The strokes go in every direction following the movement even the pillars give a sensation that the building is meltig and from the colors, you feel a light of a special evening in history.

Biography

I'm Zineb Sjahsam: My artwork is a reflection of a life lived as a traveler. American and British Born in Algiers, I traveled through Europe, the Middle East, Russia and North America working as a lawyer and translator. Always aware of the mistranslation of language, my artwork attempts to describe the ebb and flow of the life energy of universal communication, which exists beyond any one dialect. I believe that this kind of empathetic energy also extends beyond humans, influencing the smallest of plant life to the buzz of an enormous city. I studied at Glassel School of Art in Houston, I am an artist whose work is guided by discovery and accident, In addition to being trained in traditional calligraphy, I express myself using mixed media-oil and drawing. I live actually in France.
