Concept

As an artist, I work almost every day to develop paintings that speak both to me and to others about the beauty that exists in any culture from previous societies until today. Before I begin painting or drawing I put a lot of attention on small details that are going to be the most attractive part of my artwork. My work explores the relationship between people and urban culture. With influences as diverse as I. Repin and H. Matisse , new tensions are synthesized from both simple and complex textures. As subtle phenomena become distorted across boundaries and academic practice, the viewer is left with the inaccuracies of our culture. My painting called «Reflections», combines two directions at the same time: brave realism and magnificent surrealism. The challenge, as with any recreated moment from the recent past, speaks not only to me, but to others, who are going to build a very bright future for the next generations.

Biography

Born in 1979 in Russia, Iryna Medushevska was encouraged since her early childhood to take her talents seriously. During her school years she attended music and art schools. However, the success of her early art endeavors did not deter her from studying medicine, and she graduated as a general practitioner from Vinnica Medical University in Ukraine.
She moved to Dubai in 2005 to work as a doctor, but fate turned her life towards art. The principal themes in Iryna’s work is time, love and harmony. She can easily transform everyday objects into creative art objects by using oil, soft pastels, gouache and water colors. She has shown her work at group exhibitions in Egypt, UAE and England, and attended charity exhibitions for COVID-19 victims in Cairo in 2020.
Now Iryna lives in Cairo with her family. She is fascinated and inspired by works of Egyptian artists. Presently she is working on figurative art that carry a strong Egyptian flavor, typical for someone with a deep passion for her new home country.
