The question of what constitutes my art and what themes inspire me in my art is multifaceted. In the past, it was very much the political situation in Georgia. This I have already incorporated into my works as a child. Also this year I have created some works on the again critical situation in Georgia. Through art, one can draw attention to political grievances and capture and process experiences. I find that very important. Art should also address politics.

In general, my family from Georgia inspires me very strongly. For example, I had an aunt who suffered from dementia and we took care of her. I also worked through these events creatively. This is how the book Luba came into being, which is illustrated with my copperplate engravings. In addition, my art is very strongly influenced by music. So I have in recent years several band performances musically (I play percussion, doli as well as drums) and artistically accompanied. In general, the music of my husband inspires me very strongly. This inspiration is also reflected in various series in which I take up the motif of the saxophone, guitar or hands. Other important factors for me are my garden and nature (at this the artist points to the large window in her studio). So I often combine nature motifs, such as branches and withered sunflowers, with other elements. In addition, I like to paint nudes. I find the anatomy of the human body fascinating and generally get inspired by people. Be it a fleeting glance or interesting character.

I think it is essential in my art to combine many techniques and materials. I especially like oil, acrylic, charcoal and pencil. But I also like to use pigments, gold powder and gold leaf. It all depends on the subject, of course. But as I said, I think it's important to combine many materials, styles and techniques. In my opinion, this is what makes art interesting and also gives my works a certain depth.
