Concept

I am exhibiting the contemporary edgy style that is synonymous to my artwork. This is a process that I begin from traditional methods that I have researched and produced such as stretching my own linen while using ancient processors along with new and exciting methods and approaches. I am an artist based in Melbourne, Australia, holding a Master of Art with a minor thesis on Public Art. This begins my unique art progression in the artworks; such as the soaking the gluten glue, making oil paints from raw materials with pigments such as Titanium white, Pigment bleu sec, ochre, linseed oil and walnut oil to name but a few. This process using the skills from artists that have stayed in the process for centuries through the test of time is of interest. However, invariably I also work in contradistinction or contrast by using a contemporary art style and believe in an exploration into serendipity. Serendipity is described as the use of unplanned fortunate discovery, it is said that serendipity is a common occurrence throughout history of product invention and scientific discovery. I like to use mark making to lend to one interpreting themes and hints and prompts for this type of interpretation within my artworks. This is my intention so that captivation can occur and happens directly. When interpretation can come to life from either the artist or the person, child, academic viewing the artworks and when it can be expressed by them of what 'they can see' into the artwork themselves. This is how I explicitly link this serendipity and expressive painterly style into my approach; into the artworks and the artistic process.

I am exhibiting the contemporary edgy style that is synonymous to my artwork. This is a process that I begin from traditional methods that I have researched and produced such as stretching my own linen while using ancient processors along with new and exciting methods and approaches.
