Matteo Fieno, known as “the artist of women” is an emerging figurative painter based in Italy.

Since 2019 Fieno is plumbing the female world, transferring on paper and canvas, as an artistic impression, the strong complexity of all women. As a painter increasingly appreciated by critics and art lovers, Fieno gives voice to his vision, one in which women are an absolute protagonist. Keeper of beauty, embodiment of inner depths that need to be grasped and amaze, the woman meets in Fieno’s work empathy and identification, the most original traits of artistic inspiration steaming from the Italian artist. An interpretative ability that feeds on a remarkable imaginative capacity and that, at the same time, fixes the distinctive features of his artistic language into reality.

Through his artworks he wants to provoke the "impression" of having already lived, cried, laughed, fallen and then raised again, having collected the fruits of hard work ... in short, having already experienced a similar situation of his female creation histories, with the aim of freeing the repressed desire for a return to the past, or even to the origins, to an individual disillusioned by the consuming society and confused by the constant technological changes.

The way in which Fieno deals with the theme of women has been recently analyzed trough a critical statement by Vittorio Sgarbi who compared Fieno to the great artists of the past: “There is a little to be seen in his most emblematic works: monochromatic backgrounds which, despite apparent flatness, acts as a physical and mental space, a little like Katz (Alex), along with a naked woman’s body interacting with it. The sign is clear-cut, circumscribing the persuasive bodies like islands in the sea, absorbing all the Post-Impressionism expressive variants that followed Gauguin, Lautrec, Cezanne, Matisse and even Marlene Dumas”.

His works is in many private collections in Italy and has been exhibited at The Museum Gonzaga in Mantua, Scuola Grande di San Teodoro in Venice, Palazzo Leti Sansi, Complesso di San Severo al Pendino in Naples, Brera Site in Milan, Galleria Zero1 by Fondazione De Nittis, Galleria Area Contesa Arte in Rome, Galerie Thuillier in Paris, Gallery BCM in Barcelona and at Italian art fairs, among others.

Over the year he has received several artistic awards for excellence: Premio Caravaggio and Premio Milano Art Gallery, both signed by Vittorio Sgarbi, and Biancoscuro Art Contest.

Fieno’s work has been featured in La STAMPA, one of the most important Italian daily newspaper, Biancoscuro Magazine, Art Now Magazine, BlueBee Magazine, TheNYjournal.com and Creativinn.

In November 2019, Milano Art Gallery has hosted his first solo show “Declinazioni al femminile” in which he set up 42 canvas and has written and published “The Diary of Declinazioni al femminile”, which includes the 42 histories of the woman painted on the canvas.

Actually Fieno is working on a new concept “Italia al Femminile” with the aim of show Italy through his women’s eyes.

Matteo Fieno was born in 1981 in Italy and has an art school diploma, he now lives and paints in the Unesco Heritage site of Langhe, Italy.
