SOMETHING ABOUT MYSELF
I was born in Cattolica, Italy in 1966 and my family migrated to Australia when I was five years old.
I have drawn and painted for as long as I can remember. My mother used to hang paper on my bedroom walls to stop me from painting on the walls. Most of my happiest photos as a child, were of me in an art shock, drawing or painting. So, it was really a no brainier to do a Bachelor of Fine Art, back in the mid 80s, and pursue my passion to become a professional artist.
Life in Australia was hard we endured decades of discrimination and isolation not just from our peers as a child, but from adults and most of all teachers. But regardless of the setbacks, in my heart I knew the there was a reason that God gave me this insane ability to create and draw. In times of sadness and loss my Art has always prevailed to save me, and for this I am truly grateful.
Unfortunately there has been a lot of grief in my life, especially after losing my husband to cancer and having to bring up our baby alone. Lots of times where people questioned why I kept painting (as artist quality paints are expensive) but I went without, to pursue my Art. They question why I would be paint all night and throughout the next day and that night Some couldn't comprehend that my ideas wake me up and force me to lay them down on canvas. But I did not care, as I said before, my Art, my work saves me everyday. I do not believe I have a choice. It is who I am.
I thank God, my Mother understood the person I am. I am sure she is beside me now, watching the brush stokes I make and guiding my decisions from heaven.
