My name is Alejandro Borgunder and I’m an artist living in Newport, Wales
My first language is not English, that’s actually my third. Spanish is my mother tongue, Swedish my second.
I was born into uncertainty in Uruguay.. Thanks to the UN, I arrived to Sweden with my parents aged 3 with the status of political refuge. I was 14 when it was safe to return and I did for a few years but I did not find the “Home” that my parents did.
I felt like an immigrant there too. By 19 I was starting to feel for returning to Sweden to become an artist . Where I joined the Domen Art School in Gothenburg for a 2 year painting program. Since then I have kept up a regular practice, have had some small shows but always travelling back and forth in between Sweden and Uruguay trying to find my home and identity.
Now I’ve been living and working in Wales for the last three years . it has been here in this land, after almost 3 decades of painting practices That I started to feel more confident about my work.
