LOCO is a Japanese female artist who studied art under Shozo Shimamoto, an original member of the Japanese avant-garde art group called "Gutai." Shimamoto was active in the group from 1954 to 1972 in the Kansai area. Shimamoto told LOCO to make artwork that no one has ever done before, which was the most important message from the Gutai Manifesto published by the Gutai group. LOCO creates all her works while having fun and attempts to share this feeling to the viewers. She believes art can heal people suffering from anxiety or depression, and help construct human relationships as Shimamoto's artwork did for her. Although some consider art complex, and only viewed in quiet places such as galleries and museums, LOCO is aiming to make art more fun and friendly.
