Artist Statement
Softly Yours - Softly Yours
What is something that "softly yours" to you?
An irreplaceable family member,
Cute pets,
A cute pet, a happy friend,
Special time,
A special time,
or what?
Just as the kindness we suddenly feel in our daily life has warmth,
Just as the warmth of the tenderness we suddenly feel in our everyday lives, the things that are important to us, no matter what form they take, gently deliver warmth and a sense of security to us.
Their expression is also gently here, with a quiet love that envelops us.
Karin Hosono's work is expressed through cats, which are an irreplaceable part of her life, while Aoi Kaneko's work is expressed through the beauty and warmth of cats.
Aoi Kaneko creates a nostalgic world in her own unique way, as if depicting some distant memory.
This is the season when we begin to hear the footsteps of spring.
Though it is still a little chilly,
We hope that the world they depict will warm your heart gently.

As of 2025, she is currently a student at Tokyo University of the Arts, majoring in oil painting.
She paints motifs obtained from her travels and daily insights using acrylics and oils on her unique painting surface, which is based on plaster or encaustic technique (a painting technique established in ancient Greece around the 5th century B.C. that uses beeswax as the main ingredient, which is then melted with heat). Her work skillfully interweaves influences from the dignified aspects of modern Japanese painting and the techniques and patterns of classical art with contemporary elements and her own experiences and memories.
