Fascinating Myanmar Art

2020/08/12

If there is a painter who comes to your mind when you hear the words "Myanmar artist," then you are probably a serious art geek.

According to a local newspaper in Myanmar, there are only 1,000 officially registered artists in the country, and 6,000 non-registered artists. Furthermore, there are currently only two universities in Myanmar that specialize in art. In addition, although there is a national museum, no public art museum has yet been established. The only way to come into contact with the latest art is to walk around small art galleries run by private individuals. Although Asia lags behind the rest of the world in the structuring of art, the situation is unthinkable from Japan's perspective.

In this article, I would like to introduce the works of 10 artists from Myanmar who are represented by River Gallery.
