The Distance Between the Work and the Artist's Heart: On the Appeal of Drawings

2020/08/18
Shinzo Okuoka

The words used to describe art are enormous and the boundaries of definition are unclear.

Drawing and its surrounding words may be a particularly clear example of this tendency.

Drawing can be translated as "line drawing. In other words, it refers to a drawing that emphasizes the act of drawing lines with a single color pencil, pen, or charcoal. In French, drawing is equivalent to sketching, but the difference is that drawing works can also be considered as historical works. In contrast to drawing, which is more about the practice of drawing, there is a strong element of expression in drawing.

Drawings are also exhibited in museums because they provide a glimpse of the artist's technical and conceptual creative process. In this article, I would like to introduce 10 drawing works, and I hope you will explore the true nature of artists.
